A small town in Florida, this small town, was never known, but it now holds one of the most renowned stables in the country, Ecarlate de Lune is the best of the best, they’ve had great jockeys come out, well known jumpers, and the best barrel racer known. Ecarlate wasn’t always like this.
50 years ago, when Ecarlate de Lune moved into this small town, they brought people and rich people at that. Petitions went up about the stables, saying that they weren’t approved by Planning and zoning, they were dumping Manure in the water supply, anything that would attempt to close this stable down. The residents of Arcadia threatened the barn, telling them if they wanted a stable to go to Orlando, or near Miami, but not here. Ecarlate lost a lot of their riders by the town not approving their riding, most of the students were young, parents gave them everything, but they also were overprotective, so as the threats and false accusations continued, the students left. By their fifth year, Mr. Simmons, the owner, was thinking of closing the stable, there was no more reason to keep upsetting the town, and losing money. A new selectman was elected in that fifth year is what changed everything. The new selectman read all of these complaints by the residents of the town, she also was a trainer and jumper at this stable, she knew everything that went on at this barn, because she started out as a groom.
Come the seventh year, the stable was still there, but the town elected a new selectwoman, they didn’t want this stable. The new selectman last three more years, and so did Ecarlate. Ecarlate was getting bigger and better, they were becoming a known name, bringing more people into this small town, and the town within the ten years went from population 1,268 to a population of 6,598. Arcadia, was known, it was put onto a map, but when the news came with the new selectman, Ecarlate, lost everything. Ecarlate was told, that they were not following a law that was set up in the early 1800’s, a law that no one followed anymore. The Simmons were asked to stop their business, and stop it now! July 15th was the day was set up, the deadline which Ecarlate had to be closed by. Ecarlate sent out a notice to its student’s, employees, and put all of their horses up for sale. The town was satisfied, the barn went through generations rotting and overgrown with plants.
30 years later, a new generation came. The first girl in generations of the Simmons she was born on July 15th, a coincidence? No one ever told Chantal about the history, why the stable was there, she didn’t know why her family wouldn’t let her ride, but yet would let her younger sister London ride, she never knew, until a weekend with her grandparents. Chantal asked about the barn on the land, why her parent’s won’t let her ride, and her grandparents told her everything, the whole story about Ecarlate Stables. Chantal couldn’t believe it, she turned 17, she bought the house from her parents, and she was going to fix this barn up, she was going to make her family’s barn breath again, and no one can stop her.
Chantal was worried, that the town will come back against her, as the barn was finally fixed up. She made two new barns, added four pastures, two rings, and miles of trails. Her worries faded away with the grand opening, the barn was opened on July 15th, Chantal, thought that it would be fitting, to continue the barn, the day it was shut down, when the opening the first two hours, 50% of the people who signed up, were from Arcadia. It’s now on Ecarlate 10th year, of being re-opened. Chantal, the owner, London, a rider, and the town of Arcadia, is helping Ecarlate de Lune Stables.
Many famous riders have trained here, Ecarlate de Lune Stables holds a Claiming Race annually with the Annual Fair that Arcadia does in January. Chantal is the main trainer and teacher for Ecarlate, but she has some helpers. Ever since Ecarlate was re-opened, everything has gone right; she’s been able to buy 6 horses, for Schooling or to be leased. Chantal has 3 more borders that are champions, jockeys needed a barn for their horses, while they’re down in Florida, 2 of which are full time boarders, and have signed on for a two year board.
Ecarlate de Lune Stables, is at their prime time, students are signing up, trainers want Chantal as a rider, London’s going professional jumper. Ecarlate is doing great, but drama has been restarted with the new trainers, the new champions re-entering Arcadia, the whole town is disrupted. There’s going to be love-hate relationships, friends, competitors, and a lot of Drama.
