ON FRIDAY NIGHT, A COMEDIAN DIED...

With HARVEY DENT publicly pronounced dead and
the Dark Knight being held responsible for all the murders committed
by Two Face, Gotham City struggled to pick itself back up. The
criminal known as the Joker had been rightfully placed in Arkham
Asylum, along with the justice-obsessed Two Face.
Batman's acts of murder piqued the interest of the JUSTICE
LEAGUE, who had been watching the vigilante and had even been
considering giving him a seat in the group of superheroes. Curious,
and perhaps a bit unnerved by the formidable vigilante turning to
murder, the Justice League investigated. When noticing the crime rate
in Gotham, the League decided to move their base of operations to
the city.
Enter the KEENE ACT. Passed in New Jersey and New York on
June 18th, 2008, all vigilantes and superheroes are required to register
with the US government and reveal their identities. Failure to do so will
result in incarceration and public unmasking. This doesn't discourage
the Justice League.
In the ensuing madness, HARLEY QUINN springs JOKER from
his hold in Arkham Asylum.
Meanwhile, in NEW YORK CITY, the treasured vigilante, THE
COMEDIAN is found dead. Tell-tale clues lead RORSCHACH,
NITE OWL, and SILK SPECTRE to Gotham City and on
Joker's trail. When the tracks go cold, they turn to the Justice League
for help.
Batman kills three policemen in their attempt to apprehend
him due to heavy influence from JONATHAN CRANE'S latest
toxins. The task has been passed to the SWAT team in collaboration
with GCPD's MCU.
While Gotham seems like a stew of pandemonia, the city is rolling
right along in a mastermind's plans. ADRIAN VEIDT sits back
and watches his blueprints spring to life, while happily playing along.
Nobody can see the strings on his puppets, and nobody knows that
they've barely made it past page one of the journey to his ultimate
goal.
